Summer Love

On View June, 20 - July 25, 20265 Main Street, Georgetown, CT

Georgetown Arts & Cultural Center marks its tenth anniversary with Summer Love, an exhibition that is less a retrospective than a taking stock — of what a decade of genuine commitment to artists actually produces, and where it points next. Summer Love is exactly what it sounds like — a summer gathering, and ten years of love for the art, the artists, and the community that keeps showing up.

The 86 artists in this exhibition have each maintained an ongoing relationship with the gallery over the past ten years. As the work evolves, we fold it into the conversation and bring it to you, our community. What Summer Love reveals is what that kind of support makes possible. The exhibition spans painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and works on paper. What organizes it is not medium but relationship — this gallery has always been a space for meaningful relationships and the stories that build around the vital arts. At a moment when cultural infrastructure feels increasingly fragile, Summer Love makes a quiet but confident case for the small institution that shows up consistently, year after year. Georgetown Arts & Cultural Center is the heartbeat of the Connecticut art scene — a place that has shown up for artists and community alike, year after year, for ten years.
